Accessibility Statement
ILU Galleria treats accessibility as a core value. This page sets out the accessibility of the physical space and of this website, including known limitations and how to reach us about them.
Accessibility of the space
The gallery occupies the top floor of a 113-year-old listed building on Herzl Street in Tel Aviv. Because of the nature of the building and the strict preservation requirements that apply to it, the space is not wheelchair accessible.
We state this plainly and in advance so that you can take it into account before you travel, rather than discover it on arrival. It does not mean we cannot help: contact us ahead of time and we will look at what can be arranged for a particular event.
Accessibility of this website
This website is built to meet Israeli Standard IS 5568 at level AA, which corresponds to the WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA. This standard was chosen deliberately — it is the one Israel's accessibility regulations point to.
As of the update date at the end of this page the site has been reviewed by hand against the standard — at both of the display widths it was designed for, in both languages and across every page of the site — and on the findings of that review it meets IS 5568 at level AA, other than the limitations set out below.
The review was carried out by hand rather than with automated tools. Among other things it covered the contrast ratios of the text, full operation of the site by keyboard alone, the order in which items receive focus and whether that focus is visible, the labelling of the form fields, and the legibility of text enlarged to 200%.
This is an internal accessibility review carried out by the people who built the site. It does not take the place of an opinion from a certified accessibility consultant; should such an opinion be obtained, this page will be updated accordingly.
Known limitations
The physical space is not wheelchair accessible, as described at the top of this page.
The site is designed for two display widths — desktop and mobile. Between 768 and 1279 pixels the mobile layout is shown, centred and capped in width; its exact visual fidelity across this range has not been verified, but the site remains readable and operable there.
A display narrower than 402 pixels is not a width the site was designed for. We note this so that no untested support is implied.
Most of the photographs on this site are decorative: they accompany text that already conveys what they show, and assistive technology passes over them. The exception is the bird's-eye view of the gallery, which the navigation offers as a destination of its own — its text description, and that of the video which replaces it, are supplied with the final media files. Until then that view carries no text alternative, and it is the only gap of its kind we found on the site.
The error page ("Page not found") offers a link back to the home page rather than the site's full navigation. This is deliberate: the page is built so that it still renders properly when the site's content source is unavailable.
Enlarging the text to 200% on a desktop display can call for horizontal scrolling. No content is clipped or lost, but reaching some of it means scrolling sideways.
